Top 5 Frigate Bay Full-Day Tours: A St. Kitts Guide
So, you’re thinking of checking out Frigate Bay in St. Kitts, huh? That’s a great choice, I think! It’s almost the spot that folks usually dream of when picturing a Caribbean vacation. Imagine powder-soft sand, very calm, inviting water, and that laid-back vibe – that’s Frigate Bay in a nutshell. Exploring all its facets could be quite fun. I get asked a lot, what are the best ways to really experience this paradise? Well, I’ve put together a list of five awesome full-day tours that let you do just that. Let’s have a peek, we can say!
1. Beach Bliss and Water Fun Day
If just chilling and getting your dose of vitamin D is very what you’re going after, this type of tour could be a fit. Usually, these excursions include the transportation to Frigate Bay, setting you up with a comfy beach chair and maybe an umbrella. It is important that you feel at home away from home. A lot of times, they hook you up with some drink deals too. From there, it’s all up to you. You could get in that water – which, very by the way, is crystal clear. Then, after swimming, you may just want to work on your tan, or even grab a bite at one of the beachfront spots. A lot of places offer water activities as an extra. Could be jet skis, paddle boards, very anything that floats your boat. The cool thing, too, is you have freedom to move at your own pace and simply savor that beach vibe.
A few local spots I may suggest for food would be like, Mr. X’s Shiggidy Shack. Their seafood is good and the party goes on all day, even at night! Then, for a more mellow atmosphere, there’s also Cathy’s Beach Bar & Restaurant. Cathy is very nice, too! This is very where you can sample the local flavors. So, that’s very what I would start with.
2. Island Safari and Sightseeing Adventure
Alright, maybe you aren’t really that into just chilling at the beach, so this may just be for you. Picture yourself bouncing along in an open-air jeep, that’s pretty much it! So, that way, you’re getting amazing views and feeling that Caribbean breeze on your face as you check out all the highlights. Exploring nature might be up your alley! These safari tours usually cover all sorts of spots. They will most likely include Brimstone Hill Fortress (also known as the “Gibraltar of the West Indies”), which is like, old and stuff but, also, very impressive. After that, the tour moves to Romney Manor, that’s home to the Caribelle Batik, where they demonstrate how they create those super cool colorful fabrics. These tours might usually throw in a stop at Timothy Hill Overlook. Timothy Hill Overlook is awesome because it has views of both the Atlantic and the Caribbean! These excursions can also go through the rainforest.
Most tours will keep you hydrated too and throw in some snacks or a full-on lunch with local food! What I usually do is that I will wear comfortable shoes. Those jeeps could get a bit bumpy! Maybe a hat and sunscreen because it does tend to get hot. So, there is my recommendation.
3. Snorkeling and Coastal Cruise
Very into getting below the surface to see some underwater stuff? St. Kitts does boast some great snorkeling spots. With a tour like this, you could get the chance to see those cool fish, see the reefs, very that kind of thing. So, expect a boat ride. Many of these cruise tours will get you along the coast. Very nice, you know, see that island from a different viewpoint. Seeing an ocean of marine wildlife is pretty impressive. These cruises typically make a stop at a reef, maybe two. Then, it’s time to get your snorkel gear on and start floating around. You might see parrotfish, sea turtles and a whole lot of colorful coral. Very beautiful if you like this type of activity!
The boats are equipped too, and often have things like open bars and sun decks. Also, lunch is offered! The ones I’ve been on had super friendly crew. Also, if you tend to get seasick, take some medicine just to be safe. It could depend on the water of the time that you are on the water.
4. Rum Tasting and Plantation Tour
Fancy some flavor and getting to learn the culture a bit? A rum and plantation tour could be a hit. Now, St. Kitts, too, has a history with sugar cane and rum production. The tour usually will guide you through some of the old plantations. They show you how they turned the sugarcane into rum back in the day. Very neat, and pretty crazy at times too when you imagine it!
Of course, a proper rum tasting session will most likely be on that agenda. Get a chance to sample a bunch of kinds of rums. This will be included. Very smooth dark rums to those spiced ones with that kick. You’ll get to hear about the different flavors of the islands, too. Rum has a unique taste of its own. Often these tours add on a lunch with some Kittitian food, just in case you get hungry with all that rum. Just be careful of that punch, alright? Some places will allow you to make your own cocktail, so have fun!
5. Zipline Adventure Through the Rainforest
Alright, so maybe you need something totally awesome? This one is for you. I was a little bit hesitant at first, so I got my niece to test it out. St. Kitts, so, boasts that rainforest and it is very awesome. Doing this will make you feel like a monkey that jumps from tree to tree. So, they secure you. Dangle on treetops to experience fresh, green views. Then, boom, off you go soaring across the platforms! It’s extremely exciting and really an unique way to view that island’s nature. These zip line experiences tend to have safety checks and the workers are very trained at this activity. They’ll go through that equipment. Also, usually, there’s an age/weight requirement, that will be a good point to keep in mind before booking. So, that is something. Usually, very also, they’ll ask you to wear closed-toe shoes. This is just some of the tips that I can provide. That’s great.
