So, you are thinking about visiting Westchester County? It’s almost a brilliant idea, really. There are so many spots to explore. It is located just north of New York City and has history, great views, and places that are interesting to visit. 1. Lyndhurst Mansion Tour

That Lyndhurst Mansion? Very striking. The old home overlooking the Hudson River is something else. It’s almost as if stepping back into a time capsule is quite like going on one of their tours. You get to stroll through the gorgeous rooms, hear about the people who once lived there, and discover its interesting history. You know, it might be the best way to appreciate the beauty of Gothic Revival architecture. Basically, it is one thing that shouldn’t be skipped!

That main house had a story that goes back centuries, and those guides will take you step by step and tell you who once owned it, almost painting a picture of them and their place in history. You will almost hear people laughing or the carriage rolling through. When you roam from room to room and you have the guides explain their life and times. Really fascinating stuff if you just soak it in.

The grounds are also something that is, very special if you want to spend time soaking in the local trees, garden and fresh air. So, if that house isn’t quite enough. It is nice that, to do something outdoors and walk, or even sit with that special someone near the water as you contemplate history.

2. Philipsburg Manor Tour

Oh, Philipsburg Manor? Very neat old spot that is located in Sleepy Hollow! It tells that story of a colonial-era farming community. It might be really educational since, so, they have costumed interpreters that almost show you around the property. Basically, that kind of adds, very much to making everything feel super real.

And yet, you get a very clear picture of what life was like back in the 1700s and seeing people do that work. To understand a part of our shared humanity is what I get out of that trip. Of course I don’t know what anyone else will see, that is your own individual opinion after all. Maybe you would like that sort of insight.

You get to see that gristmill in action, too, so, to find out how they made that flour back then. Yet that site also brings light to slavery in the colonial North, an uncomfortable yet rather important part of that history. It is also good if people like learning more about the past and they aren’t squeamish.

3. Hudson River Cruise

Taking a cruise? Seems very beautiful. As a matter of fact, I know someone who did and loved it. In some respects, seeing that county from that water? Very nice thing if it is a summer day. The tours? Actually show the sights while just chilling on a boat. Anyway you can, you know, see the Palisades, different old estates, and quite a bit of other sights. Bring that camera so you can catch great photos.

Those cruises very much differ in length, style, almost appealing to a whole variety of interests. Yet a few provide that dinner option, and others are specifically focused on sightseeing, and so on, making that day more special. Anyway to experience this county. Almost nothing beats cruising that river!

4. Union Church of Pocantico Hills Tour

Now the Union Church of Pocantico Hills? Really rather nice little place that possesses really wonderful stained glass windows. They very much designed some of those by Henri Matisse and Marc Chagall. That almost makes it super beautiful inside.

Seeing such great art is definitely very special. Yet that building is also like, full of interesting architectural touches, so, if that’s what you care about, then this church should rate high for you. Those tours almost give great insights in to that background of such a great artistic piece.

5. Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park

This park could be very beautiful if, just a tiny bit above that Westchester line. Even still, you can reach it pretty easily. At the end of the day if, like, you fancy a view, go for it! Very scenic views almost all throughout.

It has a bridge walk and has those tours available. Plus its located near Poughkeepsie with access to that Metro-North Railroad system, yet that access really does give one other very easy way just to reach there if people are dependent on trains.
