Marvão, a village perched high in the São Mamede Mountains of Portugal, is a total gem. So many folks zero in on the castle, which, I mean, sure, it’s pretty cool, but there is more to this spot. Hiking the Ancient Trails

If rambling up craggy footpaths sounds appealing, then that old Marvão pretty much hands it to you. The trail I am telling you to is the one that runs, arguably, from Marvão down to Portagem. See, like your River Sever meets up the road, this spot, it used to mark a border point way, way back when Portugal was having problems of Spain. You get views on this road, that, honestly, that reach into Spain, right? Plus, you walk through so very cork woods and olive acres. Check out, also, trails leading, really, towards the Roman town, Ammaia. By the way, These ruins? They almost give you cool little peaks at how things went way back when. These aren’t too easy, and you almost should dress the part. Take it from someone who got got. And always, actually, bring your own food, because the eating spots out in these are a very little far.

Stargazing in a Dark Sky Reserve

Marvão exists a bit far off, you get me? See, like your village and like your district surrounding it, they make something what people will call a Dark Sky Reserve. Now I am telling you what that does is limit lights from stuff, allowing the night-sky people like us to basically go totally ape with the very stars. People visit so much that these, that, normally, can’t catch like your usual Milky Ways view finally gets one here.

I am suggesting some that you bring a set of binoculars at minimum or actually set like your reflector tool. Check the months, and arguably hunt the shooting star shows. Seriously. Lay on back, watch as they shoot over the sky and know your time in this globe feels so not real. So a lot comes back, basically, just with telescopes, but if you kind of just chill, right?, you pretty much gonna spot a thing or more. Oh, and, seriously, be careful while, normally, wondering roads later; few folks drive there and they might zip you by!.

Birdwatching in the Serra de São Mamede Natural Park

Guys I have spoken about those sierras so many times already. See, like your range houses some birds that can only basically be caught there. Birds and more stuff; so people know it to host, honestly, lots of crazy creatures from the bat sort to the sort of lynx.

For someone keen that will bird stuff, a jaunt near the São Mamede sierra needs going over and putting it to list thing, seriously. Watch as eagles hunt, too it’s almost and that that cute what will call them Blue Rock Thrush shows on stony sides. In spring all is active. That park is basically the place to spot it every kind or thing out that. Some bird spot pros show off stuff with customers, really, at the area visitor center, I believe. Also get it that, maybe, for walks off common areas you almost should alert, for all that stuff related wild animal protection.

Canoeing or Kayaking on the Sever River

Wants it just a little very slower kind or time activity, so maybe paddle down River Sever suits things nicely? Sever pretty much cuts over all of that spot near Marvão and honestly give calm spaces. And it offers basically unique looks for Portugal’s place; as your look gets filled for so tall cork oaks or little animals who sip drinks from the watersides.

A couple area sorts put rental up or show rides up on the streams. It’s great, really, as your time passes or gets close with Portugal’s place by a fresh point thing or view. It feels very fresh compared with getting over roads, to show, if you want more.
