Okay, so you’re thinking of visiting Procida? That’s fabulous! Picture this: a little slice of Italian paradise, not very far away from Naples, with a totally laid-back vibe and views that will absolutely knock your socks off. But, did you know Procida can be a fantastic springboard for hopping over to some equally gorgeous spots for day trips? Get ready to explore a handful of the best ones!

1. Ischia: Volcanic Beauty and Thermal Springs

First off, there’s Ischia. Very close to Procida, Ischia, is the biggest of the islands in the Bay of Naples, it’s almost like a big sister in the neighborhood. She is renowned for her hot springs and pretty gardens. Ischia’s volcanic roots means that, you see, there are therapeutic waters bubbling up all over the island! Imagine chilling out at the Negombo thermal park with its amazing beach, or unwinding at the Poseidon Gardens. Really lovely spots they are!

If you are into scenery, you will love exploring the Aragonese Castle. So imposing! It is perched on a rocky islet and joined to Ischia Ponte by a causeway. The view? The Roman ruins here tell ancient tales and the quiet coves are very perfect for relaxing away from huge crowds. This destination has a bit of a remote feel, so that should make for something quite remarkable, what do you reckon?

The Museo Archeologico is actually very much worth checking out. And a ramble through the Porto Romano, which is the ancient Roman harbor cut into the rock, could be your kind of thing, no? Snorkeling or just swimming in the crystal-clear waters there? Truly lovely. And, if you can get to the Santo Stefano prison island on a boat tour, that adds, well, another fascinating layer to your exploration.

4. Ponza: Pontine Paradise

Back to something very, very nearby again: consider little Vivara! Vivara is almost a small satellite island linked to Procida by a bridge. The whole place is actually a state nature reserve and it has something special, which is unspoiled wilderness. It’s totally an awesome spot if you are mad about nature or birdwatching.

Trails loop through the island, actually offering unique looks at the local flora and fauna, which may be right up your street. Visits might be regulated and sometimes need booking, so have a check before you make your way over there.
