Oh, that’s right, something sweet, too, it’s almost a requirement while you’re here, apparently! Now, forget that sticky candy, okay? And, seriously, I’m going to introduce you to real Turkish Delight. Also named Lokum, right, so little pieces of, let’s say, sugary joy that are usually flavored with things, maybe rosewater, bergamot, or some pistachios, if you’re lucky. Usually dusted with powdered sugar. These treats actually melt right away, very smooth, in your mouth. Honestly, try going to a local confectionery shop, usually. 4. Turkish Coffee: A Fortifying Ritual

So, about that Turkish coffee? It’s really not just coffee; as a matter of fact, it’s this whole ritual, basically. Actually, they cook up finely ground coffee beans, and they cook them right in a special pot that you know as a “cezve.” Apparently, what makes it very different, or that it’s not filtered, typically. Okay, then you wait, for, you know, those grounds to settle. After that you’re drinking, pretty much, what turns out to be a super strong brew that’s basically full of flavor and tradition, that, I guarantee, is, I believe, the case. Don’t forget, though: really do sip it slowly. Enjoy it slowly too it’s almost! This, you see, typically comes served with, that’s right, Turkish Delight, so that’s something to, very slightly, offset that bitterness of that coffee a bit, okay? 5. Meze: A Tapas-Style Turkish Feast

Time, I suppose, to load up with Meze. These tasty small dishes that, in some respects, are something you can see, arguably, on tables across Turkey. They’re typically that version, usually Turkish, of Spanish tapas, or something. In fact, expect things, for instance, creamy hummus, eggplant salad (Baba Ghanoush!), stuffed grape leaves, flavorful olives and you can also, pretty much, choose spicy dips. Usually, what happens is, everyone shares, you know? It really makes, pretty much, any meal a very, super social thing! What’s so very fun is you are sampling a little something or other from everywhere, usually, finding what it is that you truly fancy!
