Top Paphos Tours: Sightseeing and Cruises to Explore Cyprus

Paphos Cyprus

Paphos, that destination situated along the southwest coast of Cyprus, really is something. The place offers such a mix of history, appealing beauty, and just cool spots that anyone can dig. Are you wanting to see old archaeological sites, go for relaxing walks by the harbor, or maybe take a dip in those turquoise waters? Well, the area honestly offers a range of ways to soak things up. Figuring out what tour to hop on might feel like you are just blindly throwing darts at a board, it certainly can. So, to kinda get you started, here’s my take on the top five ways to go and experience Paphos, based on what you are looking to get out of the trip, you know?

1. Paphos City and Archaeological Park Tour

Paphos Archaeological Park

If you’re somebody who digs history, this one has your name written all over it. This tour basically takes you through the historical center of Paphos, and that is the Paphos Archaeological Park. This Park actually, believe it or not, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. So, you just know there is probably some worth-while stuff to see there, is that right? You can go look at old Roman villas there with those incredible mosaics, like, imagine the stories these stones might be able to tell if you could ask them? Pretty wild right? So too it’s almost like wandering around the ruins is walking back in time, so there’s that.

Many tours often have tour guides, and this is really a great addition. I feel that the guide is basically going to give you historical context and help point out those smaller details that you just would straight up miss if you were simply wandering on your own, see? Highlights could arguably be The House of Dionysus, with those elaborate mosaic floors. Or even the ancient amphitheater where the gladiators use to get down (or so they say), but hey… is that maybe kinda too cool to pass up, right? For anybody who has a soft spot for archaeology or ancient times, so then you might call this the ideal way to get up close with Paphos’ heritage.

2. Akamas Peninsula Off-Road Adventure

Akamas Peninsula Cyprus

Okay, so maybe sitting around looking at rocks and such sounds, maybe not as appealing? That’s OK, actually! I think, arguably, I’m with you on that. Do you maybe consider yourself more an outdoorsy person perhaps? So too it’s almost a “rough it” kind of soul who doesn’t mind a little dirt? Well, in that case, then, you may be better off seeing about an off-road adventure over on the Akamas Peninsula. Picture this, just, you know, hopping into a jeep and bumping down dirt roads, so getting to see those beautiful wild landscapes the average tourist just simply won’t see. Very, very much exciting, I’d be willing to wager.

Most tours I’ve heard about bring you to the must-see sights like the Lara Bay, which is the nesting site of the green and loggerhead turtles… how’s that for unique? This area can actually claim its untouched beaches and that rough, natural landscape. Likewise, then too it’s possible to take a swim in the crystal-clear waters or have a peek around the local wildlife. Is that wild, or what? I think this tour suits anyone wanting a more adrenaline-filled adventure and a close up glimpse at those scenic areas of Cyprus you might have thought weren’t there.

3. Aphrodite’s Rock and Local Villages Tour

Aphrodite's Rock Cyprus

Is that you, you little romantic at heart? You wanna see a more scenic vibe and soak up the local atmosphere, don’t ya? Arguably, this tour kind of circles back to visiting the iconic Aphrodite’s Rock. Apparently, so the story goes, it’s actually the birthplace of the goddess of love. A little silly? Maybe. However it certainly would provide a cool picture right? Most tours then give you more time to visit the surrounding villages too.

Imagine seeing traditional Cypriot life first hand! So, really kinda like stepping back into an older time, then. Anyway, so I think you can see small streets, old stone buildings, and locals hanging outside their homes. Are you into wines? Cool! That destination is rather near some local wineries too where you could very much sample some regional vintages! A pretty sweet way to learn more about what’s going on, meet those Cypriot people and hear their stories. Pretty enriching stuff if you’re into that kinda experience I would think! So, this is for people after that combo of mythological locations along with genuine cultural immersion… and honestly a little tasty wine is just never bad, in my opinion anyway.

4. Blue Lagoon Boat Trip

Blue Lagoon Cyprus

Ready to hit the water? Why not? I think almost anyone that visits here will quickly see it just simply *begs* to be enjoyed. I’ve heard tell of boats leaving from Paphos harbor that can get you cruising towards that lovely Blue Lagoon… That destination is quite a hotspot with water so blue it’s like looking at one of those heavily edited stock photos, ya know? So, it’s really true! You might enjoy it too!

I feel that on the average boat excursion, so you get chances to swim, so, to snorkel and have a little lie around just in some seriously amazing waters, and perhaps with some included lunch. Is that good or what? Often, that can be kinda cool. So the lagoon’s shallow and shielded bays are great for underwater sight seeing with good visibility, too it’s almost great if you have kids as well and maybe don’t wanna throw them in a scary ocean right? Very good if you just desire to chill in a place that appears to have fallen straight off a travel magazine, you see. And perhaps not as boring as sitting and looking at those silly old rocks either. Although arguably I think I understand that there could be some real appeal in this!

5. Sunset Cruise from Paphos Harbour

Paphos Harbour Sunset

How about bringing your day to a close with an utterly beautiful cruise when the sun begins to sink below the horizon? I feel sunset cruises leaving from Paphos Harbour can basically offer you just super relaxing sunsets out on the ocean, you know? That golden sunlight paints the sky above shades of orange, red and purple as your vessel floats slowly in that mild Mediterranean breeze! What could be better? Okay, okay, well, perhaps maybe getting paid for all this, you see, but this IS very high up on that list.

These tours could provide cocktails, and snacks on hand as you’re passing sites such as Paphos’ coastline and also watching that setting sun disappear completely into the sea! Is that beautiful and romantic, or just what? Perfect if you like romance, peace and awesome views all at once! Or hey, do you maybe just have a pal that digs those super lovely sunset shots so they may post up on that instathingie for likes? Now is their chance to get those likes I would suppose! I feel this can certainly be the best possible way just to cap off your adventures there in Paphos with something simply unforgettable.
