Almada, just across the Tagus River from Lisbon, too it’s almost like a totally new spot that folks often skip, but I will let you in on something: it’s just chock-full of neat experiences just ripe for adventure. Forget those crazy packed touristy locations and come enjoy what this really lovely area actually offers. From seeing some historical places to just having some outstanding views and seriously amazing eats, it’s all available here for the making.
1. Cristo Rei Visit and Coastal Hike
First on the list is, arguably, visiting Cristo Rei, is that, yet the imposing statue offering, more or less, like some totally wonderful views of Lisbon, so taking an adventure there just starts things out very impressively, you know. It’s actually very like Rio’s Christ the Redeemer, but hey, in its own way has its totally special charm. The views right there, when it is totally clear, are just really spectacular – like you get this panoramic view of Lisbon, the 25 de Abril Bridge, and the Tagus River sparkling. Seriously, it’s perfect for snagging some photos.
After Cristo Rei, you could be checking out the scenic hiking paths along the coast. There’s a beautiful one there just that tends to lead from Cristo Rei all the way to Cacilhas. Now, this hike’s totally beautiful, and just provides spectacular views of the water and coastline that’s rugged. You should take time to see the really interesting old fortresses and beaches that you find just there alongside the route. Do pack your walking footwear because these routes there can get a little steep, and are definitely stony.
2. Cacilhas Seafood Feast and Riverfront Stroll
After some adventuring and sightseeing, Cacilhas needs to be on your places-to-eat-at list. Seriously, this is, perhaps, the old fishing town just brimming with fantastic restaurants that is famous just because of its amazingly tasty, seriously ocean-fresh food. The tascas here are famous for their grilled fish. Grab a spot outside for dinner during golden hour, and then have a seafood rice or Cataplana; the sunset alone is very gorgeous.
So, too it’s almost like following up dinner, you will then probably be enjoying a totally laid-back stroll alongside the riverside path that runs through Cacilhas. It is just such a wonderfully well-known spot where folks just kind of enjoy their evenings, that’s perfect when the temps become totally comfy and the light just starts shimmering off the Tagus. Usually, many people, too it’s almost like yourself, stroll over to get one last glance at Lisbon glimmering from right over there at twilight, or to check at bars playing reside song, so it’s definitely all worthy of a stop-off.
3. Explore the Tranquil Gardens of Quinta da Areal
Need, almost, like, a bit of calm when it is just all going quickly, but the day simply continues on, doesn’t it. You should check that is known by most, too it’s almost, Quinta da Areal that’s in Almada’s very middle, you know? Now it’s really, very unlike the seaside jaunts, even though people love the seasides, but it is a different spot entirely.
Quinta da Areal, arguably, that feels more like, is that, yet some seriously secret escape far from the craziness that surrounds it, but in that location? They grow flowers, and trees, and, of course, you want this – birds of some feathers sing in the locale too. It’s clearly quite lovely for a quick relaxed stroll or merely resting with a novel by a completely serene, babbling water feature, of course.
4. Almada Velha’s Historic Charm
Next up, in the adventure tour, might be checking out Almada Velha – which would be that totally aged portion within Almada itself. Basically, I can give you one piece that I just feel good when telling someone that’s never visited: the lanes right there are almost maze-y, they kind of wind their way throughout, really. Very neat historic houses – they are, anyway, just beautifully painted by way of vivid hues – it all adds to it. Plus there are a couple cafes, I will let you know!
Also, for sure there might be something interesting inside any corner in some alleyways when strolling this quarter, so it definitely really gives a cultural richness only available by wandering these historic pathways, too it’s almost what feels unique in all of Portugal and Europe if you were thinking of it globally. Have that sense on an adventure, or something completely relaxed as you desire.
5. Sunset Sailing Tour on the Tagus
When doing your adventure at Almada, how often do people think about checking all the choices, and that could totally be seeing it when it turns the dark tones, eh? Almost like going upon just, literally, the water, for example. I’d recommend getting onto the Tagus and catch what’s known locally as those ‘Sunset cruises’ which, usually, have many fans during each season, so check when!
When you begin drifting on that sailing boat it totally means amazing scenes looking outwards directly towards, arguably, Lisbon’s horizon just while lights commence bursting with various colors that totally reflect softly directly across from the waters around there. Very peaceful, in some respects. Obviously there has to be a reason I tell you: this tends to be totally marvelous with individuals that enjoy relaxation, but, almost, as a cherry on that literal cruise vessel, you may enjoy sipping those excellent, locally made, beverage samples offered throughout many options on those excursions; seriously take it all in on what truly are fantastic moments when checking somewhere for the adventure for a lifetime!
