Lucca Adventure Tours: Top 5 Unforgettable Experiences
Thinking about heading to Lucca, Italy? It’s almost one of those spots that just sticks with you. It’s got that charm, you know? That feel of a place that’s seen things, yet still knows how to have a good time. Lucca has more than just looks; it’s got these cool experiences, I think they’re just waiting to be discovered. Stuff that gets you out there, gets you trying new things, and just having a blast. So, very come with me as I run through five pretty amazing adventure tours around Lucca. They’re not your regular, run-of-the-mill sightseeing things, more of the kinda adventures that will stick with you.
Bike the Walls of Lucca
First off, how about biking those famous walls? You might see them on postcards, but, like, biking on top of ’em is totally different. That’s right, those walls are enormous. I’m talking about the walls that circle the entire city; imagine riding along, wind in your face, soaking in the views. Sounds pretty good, actually. Plus, it is fairly flat, is it not? Even if you’re not super into biking, this trip is more of a chilled-out cruise. You might just want to stop at a cafe. The kids can run around without having to worry about cars, which is cool. I suppose you’re going at your pace. Find a bike rental, pick one that you enjoy and looks amazing and ride that baby!
It makes it easy to see a little bit more.
Tuscan Cooking Class
So, thinking about doing something completely different? I might suggest trying a Tuscan cooking class. We’re talking rolling pasta from scratch and that smells incredible while it bakes kind of vibes. You will definitely get a hands-on experience, like your own nonna is teaching you the ropes. We are making old family recipes, and the best part? You actually eat everything. Typically, these classes are smaller groups, just, really, that gives it a more personal feel. I might have tried one, that or a cooking experience near Siena where you can ask any silly question about, basically, Tuscan food and traditions, and no one judges. Anyway, you learn to make pasta that day, maybe that delicious pici pasta, maybe you bake some sweets… You eat what you make, obviously and that’s how it goes!
Wine Tasting in the Hills
Now, imagine this; think about cruising through the hills outside Lucca. I believe there are a couple of vineyard options in the countryside. Stop there to sip on wine. Very often, these are little, family-owned places with a lot of care where they make their wines. And, it seems the views. Oh man! The kind that just sticks in your head. Likely you’ll hear about, just maybe, how they actually make the wine, the kinds of grapes they plant. This kind of stuff, you won’t just grab a glass; you get the whole story. Many of these vineyards also offer small bites, of course; it just pairs perfectly with the wines.
Canyoning Adventure in Canyon Park
Ok, thinking you’re kinda up for something more extreme? There happens to be the Canyon Park near Bagni di Lucca? Maybe that’s the one for you. So, in effect, you’re trekking through a canyon, very often rappelling down waterfalls and then zip-lining. A lot. The guides know the area really well. They keep things safe, actually; it might still get your heart racing. Something that most people have found challenging and amazing, I guess!
Exploring Garfagnana
Have you considered a trip up to Garfagnana? We can probably all agree. I’m serious. That area is cool and the area tends to fly a little more under the radar. People aren’t doing that. You might want to think about some medieval towns stuck in time, pretty awesome views, I reckon, and loads of chances for hiking. You may wish to rent a car, you know? Just spend a day driving around, it is almost like stopping in little villages, sampling the local food. It’s, as a matter of fact, that kind of adventure. You might stumble upon that secret gem of a restaurant. I have read about this old bridge called Ponte del Diavolo (“The Devil’s Bridge”) that looks unreal. Is that something that sounds good?
