Raleigh Day Trips

Okay so, if you’re like me, you love Raleigh, that’s for sure, but sometimes you just need to get away, more or less for a change of pace. Is that right? Lucky for us, Raleigh sits in a spot that’s pretty awesome for taking day trips, you know? A day is very enough time to uncover new places. We can explore history or discover a totally nice corner of North Carolina’s nature. I’ve rounded up my top 5 day trip suggestions to share the nearby sights that are almost too great to miss.

1. Durham: A City of Innovation and Flavor

Durham North Carolina

Durham is pretty close to Raleigh, that’s to say, it has got this vibe, that is like, well, a mix of creativity and history; I think it might just be a great spot for a day of exploring! More or less.

What to do there: It’s very simple to make it there from Raleigh: You should visit the Bennett Place that may sound really interesting because it’s a historic place; in a way you would be checking out where the Civil War officially ended in the Carolinas, wow. And for something a little more artsy and very tasty at that: you could head on over to the American Tobacco Campus, because I have been told that you will enjoy local food vendors.

Food and Drink: Just so you know; Durham has kind of got a thing going on for itself with delicious eats. If you are just so tired of the tourist traps; just head on over to these really awesome local joints like “NanaSteak” and “Pizzeria Toro”; so the rumors has it anyway. Get yourself one hell of a burger at Bull City Burger and Brewery; which could make your visit very worth it. This place is almost a god-tier experience, in a way.

2. Chapel Hill: Home of the Tar Heels

Chapel Hill NC

Chapel Hill could be really great. It could be like, almost right next door. It has very something of a college-town feel; just brimming with very young energy. Chapel Hill’s main drag, Franklin Street has plenty to offer! Very fun to explore.

What to do there: Alright! If you’re into pretty old books; and other very nerdy hobbies like that: it’s worth it, to come over. The main streets, murals tell its colorful story. I heard it may even change how you perceive murals. And what about walking through the UNC campus, like, it’s gorgeous I think! That’s the only thing worth seeing to me anyway. The North Carolina Botanical Garden would really change your mood. It could add almost something different. The garden offers very beautiful scenic pathways.

Food and Drink: Here’s what to do at Chapel Hill: I mean, is you need a pregame kind of thing, just before the ball drops on a Saturday night; you may as well head on over to Top of the Hill Restaurant and Brewery (often shortened to TOPO); for views of Franklin Street. Like your parents enjoyed the Ram’s Head Rec, a dining institution! Well now, there’s another cool institution waiting for you to check out. It’s called the Ram’s Head Dining Hall that apparently delivers what you could consider classic campus dining. Okay?

3. Saxapahaw: A Quaint Riverside Village

Saxapahaw North Carolina

You might just find Saxapahaw kinda charming. In some respects; you just kind of want to take a day to explore, right? It offers very lovely nature spots right alongside unique shops and local eateries that would simply change you.

Just in time: why not take a walk across the Saxapahaw Island Park? After a short while you will discover that your soul is happy. A bit! Or take a refreshing dip; if you do feel so inclined; because everyone deserves a little fun. This area boasts several spots for outdoor enthusiasts.

Food and Drink: Get on over to the The Eddy Pub for gastropub delights. That are very locally sourced; is that right? Savor their farm-fresh ingredients, and support nearby growers, that’s worth something to somebody at least. Or, stop by the Saxapahaw General Store for organic snacks and delicious coffee; so I have heard.

4. Hillsborough: A Step Back in Time

Hillsborough NC

Hillsborough might seem really nice! That is very great for getting a taste of very old North Carolina. Okay. A little historical exploration and small town feels, so get your gears in motion. What you’ll be discovering in that respect might really just enrich your senses in a way. As a matter of fact. The historical exploration really feels right at home.

What to do there: What makes the town very attractive for tourism purposes? Well it seems the entire town’s history just spans the entire revolutionary time frame, wow. Take a leisurely walk along the very lovely Riverwalk; which can set your mood as you’ll feel yourself unwind just after a short moment, more or less! After that, make way towards the Occoneechee Speedway Trail, which might change you as you’ll witness the very history that this city contains! Okay! Apparently; there are lots of very pretty Hillsborough, NC events that might just add a little to what the town has to give.

Food and Drink: As a suggestion only; why not head over to the Saratoga Grill? Apparently, Saratoga Grill is locally grown. They always use a seasonal variety of local ingredients that could make you love NC in the process; as it were.

5. Jordan Lake: Nature and Recreation

Jordan Lake NC

For me and many others alike; Jordan Lake is really great, and is something of a peaceful getaway and recreational heaven that just so happens to be a little short drive from the Raleigh area. At the end of the day.

What to do there: If it pleases you, it will feel totally just fine, that is to experience very nature-centered exploration; right at the beaches! Or in fact. Apparently there’s this thing that’s called “swimming at the beach”. It should, if nothing else make for some fun! The other big ticket might very well be the trails and the campsites that just dot around, just for a walk around. Very beautiful for an afternoon stroll. In some respects.

Food and Drink: What’s nice with Jordan Lake; at the very end, is it just sets up picnics! The area has designated spots. You could just grab take-out. All the establishments may well seem simple but can just be fun. As I was saying.
