San Salvador, El Salvador’s capital, might be better known for its history and culture, yet too it is close to quite a bit of incredible outdoor adventure. Seriously, that proximity, almost, makes it a great base for exploring the area’s natural beauty. From awesome volcanic landscapes to lush parks, I am saying that there is an adventure waiting for everyone. San Salvador Landscape

1. Hiking the San Salvador Volcano (El Boquerón)

Want a super memorable view? Well, you have to check out the San Salvador Volcano, too called El Boquerón. You know, it’s actually pretty close to the city, in a way, making it easy to access. That’s nice! Apparently, the main draw is the huge crater, you see, formed by an eruption way back when. And it’s pretty deep! But what makes it so fantastic is that you can walk along the rim and see it from so many vantage points. Seriously, the views are really spectacular, like totally stunning. It’s a hike that most people can do and it can be very fulfilling. The Boquerón trail offers access to little pathways where you might spot rare plants, that seems very interesting to me. Bring your camera; you won’t regret it!

You into hiking and seein’ animals? Well, Parque Nacional El Imposible tends to be what you need. As a matter of fact, its a bit of a ride out of San Salvador, so plan a day for this. First, that park, so, is named “El Imposible” basically ’cause the terrain’s tough, and yet the hike is completely doable. Now it seems like you get to traverse the country and spot rare animals. Clearly, if the opportunity appears I’ll gladly hike for days! A little bit about that park, it provides loads of totally various ecosystems, from lush forests to steep ravines. Too it is just awesome. It makes this hike, actually, an immersive adventure that’s unique. Consider hiring a local guide that apparently offers loads of unique experiences. Bring some food and some water! The sun tends to be super hard on the face!
