If you are heading to the Seychelles, then you should brace yourself. It’s not just beaches and sunsets, very there’s also some seriously sensational food waiting to be devoured. We are talking about a mixture of Creole flavors that reflect the islands’ melting pot heritage. Really think spices, seafood just caught from the ocean, and that delightful tropical touch. 1. Grilled Fish – Simple, yet Sublime

For something slightly, I say only very slightly, bolder, get your laughs ready for Octopus Curry, I promise you it tastes so much better than it sounds. This particular Creole recipe can feature as much, if not more, in family cookbooks than it does in fancy restaurants and what is delivered is a taste of real home cooking. The octopus is typically cooked until it could be described as being incredibly and unbelievably tender, that can be an achievement if you have ever cooked it. That’s because it has to be slow-cooked. So, you should expect a beautiful depth of flavors with that unmistakable curry aroma. I mean this screams spice rack. 4. SeyBrew – The Taste of the Islands
Time to move on to beverages. Obviously there’s only really one place to start in the Seychelles, that, in my view, would be SeyBrew. The locally brewed beer, you see, is basically everywhere, so too it’s almost an unsaid law that everyone should at least try it once when visiting. It is an awful lot like your regular lager. Really refreshing and particularly great ice cold on a hot day. Arguably this stuff is at its absolute best on a beach, in that perfect sunset moment when your day on those amazingly golden sands comes to its natural conclusion. It is something that you can find it in pretty much every bar and restaurant, if they serve beers obviously, so there’s absolutely no escaping it even if you wanted to. This may very well become your best, that, or at least your favorite, go-to drink during your visit, so get a head start and find out how it came about and the brewery that produces it!
5. Kalou – The Local Brew with a Kick
Now, if you want something just a touch stronger, right then you should perhaps be a little daring. Seek out Kalou. This local drink is arguably something you’ll never forget, basically, because it can have such a kick. It is created by fermenting the sap from coconut palm flowers. Right then. So this really is something very local. It is not for the faint of heart, I promise, often with a potent, shall we say fairly unique, taste that’s a bit of an acquired flavor if I am truthful. Still, though, very some insist that it is something you must try in order to genuinely, honestly experience what the Seychelles are all about. Just be aware, if you get your hands on it, that the alcohol quantity can vary a fair bit depending on the preparation so do show a bit of caution and absolutely only sample this drink in moderation. The kick can come as quite a surprise. Also just consider buying or making it for you and family and friends as a lovely gift for them to try!
