Top 5 Casoria Day Trips: See Campania’s Best

Casoria, that town right outside Naples, is like your basecamp for exploring Campania, the land of pizza and volcanoes! You know, finding cool places for a day away that aren’t too far, is often exactly what you need when you are itching to see some history or chill by the water. This list of my top 5 day trips gives you that, it provides ideas to see everything from old Roman ruins to coasts you dream about.

1. Naples: Getting Lost in Italy’s Most Chaotic City

Well, of course, Naples is up first because it’s so close and so full of stuff that one day doesn’t even touch it. Honestly, this town just has history leaking out of every building; you might be walking around and then find some ruin from like, two thousand years back, seriously! Food there is really another experience, from pizza you grab while standing up, to seafood places where you are basically eating in the sea. Expect it to be crowded, loud, and maybe slightly gritty, yet that is what makes Naples so genuinely alive, wouldn’t you say?

Things to check out while in Naples:

Pizza Pilgrimage: Okay so, this one is for finding that seriously good pizza spot that everyone argues about. Just wander around ’til you find a place where it is all locals and it looks a bit crazy, almost!
The National Archeological Museum: Arguably, this place houses all these crazy Roman artifacts, as I was saying, stuff they pulled from Pompeii. If you want to get some idea of how wild life actually was way back when, actually this is where to do it.
Spaccanapoli: A long street that totally slices through the ancient heart of Naples. Perfect for getting lost a bit and doing that people-watching thing.

2. Pompeii and Herculaneum: Throwback to AD 79

Pompeii is really just a bus or train away from Casoria, very, a bit like taking a crazy step back to 79 AD when Vesuvius went all boom. What gets you right away is that you’re actually walking around an ancient town; it’s that big and intact, and all that. I mean, you can walk through homes, see stores, almost like folks just stepped away for coffee, you know? Not too far is Herculaneum which tends to be a bit smaller and, I would say, better kept. Why these ruins will keep you staring:

Pompeii: That huge site kind of gives you that true sense of a busy Roman town froze the second Vesuvius just decided to explode.
Herculaneum: Usually, everything here seems more on the up-close and real side because it got covered in mud instead of ash, which kept things very preserved.
Mount Vesuvius: Just see the crater. That hike, arguably, gives some views and then you can actually tell where all this happened as I was saying!

3. The Amalfi Coast: Cliffs, Views and Gelato

Now, for something super pretty. I mean, the Amalfi Coast does require a little driving, as a matter of fact it definitely tests your driving confidence! That winding road clinging to that coast is possibly, just stunning. You may stop at Positano for pictures which look like straight-up postcards, visit Amalfi for something of a historical town feel, or you know, Ravello if you fancy stunning garden views way up there. This trip should totally be about taking those photo stops, trying like, very lemon things (granita, cake, booze!), and chilling to watch that turquoise sea, clearly; a bit like pure heaven. Not-to-miss spots on the Amalfi Coast:

Positano: Picturesque doesn’t even begin to describe this village, yet all built on that steep hillside. You go there to stroll, grab a drink, and, by the way, you know, maybe buy something ridiculously priced, as I was saying!
Amalfi: Arguably the coast’s former capital, it shows off all this ancient history and what happened in its very, well old cathedral.
Ravello: If you don’t mind something that’s higher up, the views from there villas, namely Rufolo and Cimbrone are epic, totally!

4. Caserta: To The Royal Palace of Italy

Want to check out one great thing right near Casoria, and like without too much traveling, that Palace of Caserta thing. Word, this place could rival Versailles and is absolutely amazing and all that. Arguably it’s this super huge palace which just has rooms to wander that blow your mind and that have gardens where you might walk forever, really. Seriously this gives something of a big culture dose and it might all make for something calmer as a matter of fact than heading into chaotic Naples.

Royal Caserta high points:

Palace Interior: That tour through it displays something like how royalty totally overdid things with art and the biggest rooms you have glimpsed.
The Gardens: Those gardens may require that you rent that bike ’cause those fountains actually stretch as far, further even than the eye sees.
English Garden: Designed with almost some exotic touch, almost a surprise considering the whole place generally looks pretty Italian, usually.

5. Ischia: A Volcanic Island Hideaway

You know if islands are kinda your thing, Ischia is great! It is this volcanic spot a short ferry ride out of Naples, clearly. Arguably you can get springs where the hot water bubbling straight through those rocks there will do their body-soothing thing, visit some pretty spots such as Castello Aragonese right on the water, you know, and actually have great grub for much cheaper in comparison to Capri.

Hot tips for visiting Ischia:

Thermal Parks: Just go grab this ticket for gardens, saunas, plus mineral pools; such as the very popular Poseidon ones.
Aragonese Castle: I mean that ancient fort built right into some small rocky island shows a bit of historical building skills, like they have kept a seriously great look at.
Forio: That little town on the side looks postcard pretty including that church right next to this sea view spot; a thing people grab at sunset quite a lot, honestly.
