1. A Taste of Tradition at Augustiner an der Frauenkirche

Alright, so let’s kick things off with Augustiner an der Frauenkirche. This spot, you know, it’s right next to the famous Frauenkirche, which arguably makes it like the perfect place for a tourist, right? Yet, trust me on this one, it’s more than just location. The interior is kind of comfy, decorated in a classic Bavarian style. Anyway, Augustiner offers a really genuine feel for traditional German hospitality. When I went, I got the Schweinshaxe – that is, pork knuckle – and a Mass (liter) of Augustiner beer. Seriously, the pork was super crisp on the outside but surprisingly tender inside. As I recall, the beer paired with it really hit the spot. It just complemented everything, you know? If, like your favorite, you want something classic and filling, this is like your go-to place, it really is. Don’t be afraid of that pork knuckle; it’s seriously iconic.

2. Fine Dining with a View at Caroussel Restaurant

Next up is Caroussel Restaurant, which, to be honest, is probably for when you’re feeling a bit fancy. So, the thing is, this restaurant actually revolves—pretty slowly—on top of the Bellevue Hotel. This provides some absolutely incredible views of the Dresden skyline. Yet, more than that, the food can make for a real dining experience. They tend to be focused on seasonal ingredients. As a matter of fact, the menu is updated pretty regularly, which is kind of cool if you are a returning guest. In fact, when I visited, I actually tried a perfectly cooked venison dish paired with some local red wine. The view itself is something you want to take a picture of, yet I kind of feel that the quality of the cuisine actually manages to be just as impressive, is that not true? Do yourself a favor and perhaps reserve a table for sunset; you’ll be glad you did it. As I was saying, it truly elevates your evening, like your own dining game.

It’s not just what they serve; to put it simply, it’s how they serve it that feels seriously different. Seriously, let us be fair: no trip to Dresden seems completed if you do not treat yourself with Kreutzkamm’s magic. Take my word for it, their sweets do tend to create wonderful memories.

4. Craft Beer Discovery at Brauhaus Watzke am Goldenen Reiter

As you know, for any, like, beer lovers out there, Brauhaus Watzke am Goldenen Reiter seems like a must-visit. And like your favorite spot, it gives you a, you know, the feeling of a cozy, a very classic German brewery and, in addition, happens to have the extra advantage of boasting the location close to the Golden Rider statue. They may tend to brew their own beer on-site, arguably ensuring that all you drink is super fresh and locally made.
