Whether you’re, like, a local looking for a weekend escape or someone who is visiting from far away, checking out what this city offers outdoors is certainly worth doing and it’s likely you won’t regret it, and you can always look at these popular weekend destinations when planning the perfect get away!

1. Stroll along the Walls of the Corniche

Walls of the Corniche Luxembourg

The Corniche, often called “the most wonderful balcony in Europe,” so it is actually pretty breathtaking, right? Yet, this walkway runs along the old city walls and it’s definitely giving unbelievable views of the Grund district below, is that interesting to you? Basically, as you walk, like, you’re treated to panoramic vistas of the Alzette River, these quaint buildings, and the rolling hills in the distance, just a little bit, and the history here? So it’s palpable. It seems you’re tracing the footsteps of people who have been here for hundreds of years, possibly even a bit longer, okay? This is very much like an ideal spot for a morning jog, it sounds ideal for me, just maybe taking pictures, or a casual evening walk, you know? Remember your camera since you’ll want to save stunning views.

2. Explore the Bock Casemates

Bock Casemates Luxembourg

The Bock Casemates, that’s basically this network of underground tunnels, that is certainly a step back in time, seemingly, and the Casemates offer a rather unique outdoor experience, too. Very much like carved into the solid rock starting in the 17th century, I think that makes sense, actually, yet these tunnels, in a way, have been used for everything from shelters to military defenses, and even more. I am sure they do. So, wandering here, so it feels like you’re investigating centuries of history, a little bit, just a touch, right? And it seems to me that various openings in the walls provide awesome views of the city from a really different point of view, too, so make sure you check those out as you plan what historic locations to check out first!

3. Relax in the Municipal Park

Municipal Park Luxembourg

The Municipal Park, very much like located right in the heart of Luxembourg City, just really is this oasis of green, kind of, seemingly, okay? It seems very much like it’s the ideal location if you fancy somewhere relaxing or for taking the family on an enjoyable day out. I am sure there is. With that in mind, very much like beautifully maintained gardens, winding pathways, and charming ponds, I would say the Municipal Park really does give the city goers an amazing way of being with themselves again. Is that not quite your thing? Any day, very much like the park bursts into colour thanks to that variety of flowers, this day out is for sure for you.

4. Hike the Mullerthal Trail

Mullerthal Trail Luxembourg

The Mullerthal Trail, often called “Little Switzerland,” right, very much like the Mullerthal region provides a contrast from Luxembourg City that most cities would not have the pleasure to brag about. Is it though? Yet this is where you’re basically going to experience, it is fair to say, forest scenes that stretch and bend the mind into relaxation. With that said, its fascinating rocks, winding terrain, and a diverse fauna & flora range of what you expect, I will add, the area is just perfect. So that in mind, you will struggle, yet likely not find a more relaxing place to visit!

5. Cycle along the Alzette River

Alzette River Luxembourg

The Alzette River, this thing winds its way through the very heart of Luxembourg City, and so, yet, it is giving the ideal chance for a nice leisurely bike ride. This seems great! Actually, there are various dedicated bike lanes that can run alongside the river, or the river banks, anyway, actually, in the hope of providing the kind of flat and easy ride, if that makes any sense. Anyway, this is actually something the family will just have an amazing time with, and it is a fantastic and interesting way to see so many points of interest as well, maybe even get a bit fit as you discover the City’s gems!
