Top 5 Moreton Island Classes: Workshops & Activities Review

Moreton Island, a place near Brisbane that many visit for it’s views and activities, it’s a special location with something that seems to click for just about everyone. Whether you love kicking back on the beach, seeing what happens beneath the waves, or just capturing postcard shots, Moreton kind of provides. But knowing where to start? It can be a bit tough. I am going to highlight what I think are the five workshops and classes here that seem worthwhile.

1. Guided Snorkeling at the Tangalooma Wrecks

The Tangalooma Wrecks is quite a unique diving area that’s very, very shallow and full of fish and wildlife, so too its’ almost perfect for beginners who want to give snorkeling a try, and for those who may be more experienced and want to see something interesting. Now, you can explore them on your own, of course, yet getting a guided tour from an island local who’s been around helps a lot. The instructors often are really helpful. They know all the hotspots where the coolest fish usually hang out, plus they can give tips for being confident and more skilled in the water.

I feel a guided snorkeling tour here is well worthwhile for getting the best views. You also, like your instructors can tell you about the ships, when and how they were sunk on purpose and what sort of life exists there now. This activity offers a bit more of what can be gained out there from just snorkeling and learning the areas, and just in case you need the knowledge.

2. Sandboarding Lessons at The Desert

Alright so, did you even know there’s a place referred to as “The Desert” on Moreton Island? Me neither! Yet there it is. It is a bunch of enormous sand dunes just begging to be slid down at great speed. So if you want something that can get your heart going, lessons that can provide sandboarding and tips on doing things safely might really make it worthwhile for getting it right first time, that it often provides lessons on safety. Also, I think it might be useful, but there’s tips, too, on technique to keep from eating too much sand during falls!.

Most of the guides there are friendly and always make sure the whole lesson ends up fun with a big buzz, instead of, like your instructor lecturing on. You might see one of the guides is an old pro with loads of experience, they really will make sure you have fun when whizzing down those hills like a total pro, but not only that but learning a bit as too it’s almost necessary for the right fun. Very happy!.

3. Sunset Photography Workshop on the Beach

Now, if sliding down hills isn’t for you and maybe you have more patience and you love taking snaps, imagine yourself with this gorgeous sunset right on the western beach of Moreton. That golden hour is just about perfect. Some photography classes on Moreton teach things like that it often provides tips on compositions that work to getting just that warmth in pictures at sunset. So, anyway with, such great scenery it does make your memories more lasting!

I really feel these courses might give value not just by learning settings but where also those top photo spots that locals love. Also, as I was saying those shots can be so much better having gone along on an actual photography session which some have on hand that you get to just capture a really perfect setting with perfect scenery without just being rushed. Seriously its great!

4. 4WD Driving Skills Course

So Moreton Island has kilometers, almost it’s seemingly miles and miles of sandy tracks that can often prove really tricky if, arguably you aren’t used to driving on it, but with 4WD being super necessary. If the driving element that really is the one to draw your interest. A 4WD skills workshop can prove incredibly useful for navigating these types of spots! Anyway.

I really think this is well worthwhile. It can start off teaching you the basics like tyre pressures for sand through that to much trickier stuff, and learning techniques. Plus those beaches you want to drive along there is the small manner that that it often provides an element to it that really might appeal for seeing what to watch for, or if any rules or just general hints with safety when driving along such wonderful sandy landscapes so nearby. Also its well good value from it.

5. Indigenous Cultural Workshop

This experience is just a little bit different. Learning about the traditional owners, the Quandamooka people and the local island customs is amazing, so too it’s almost enriching in a completely different fashion. The workshops sometimes include hearing some local stories that go back forever about why island location holds such meaning for Indigenous folk who have lived on it or those that are related for like what, potentially over many years before now.

I think one key plus is knowing where, potentially some ancient sites sit (which that, in fact you definitely cannot simply stomp all over, as too it’s almost well inappropriate really!) and there will usually exist someone with knowledge that provides background stories from times gone by for those that listen to it. In short, you gain respect about people and you get stories that really connect us human to landscape through local cultures. It can, very well so happen to just enhance what you enjoy on Moreton. Very moving.
