Top 5 Ocho Rios Tours: Find Your Perfect Jamaican Adventure

Ocho Rios Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica, a place so many folks daydream about, is almost like a shimmering jewel on the north coast. Really, with its perfect beaches, seriously impressive waterfalls, and those tropical forests you see in movies, it is basically calling out for exploration. Very many visit this Caribbean dream every year, basically looking to relax, soak up the sun, and, yes, also see what sort of excitement the island can provide. Getting out and properly experiencing what Ocho Rios has to offer means thinking about the huge variety of tours that will get you off resort. Picking just the right adventure can take your holiday from nice to completely unforgettable. So, here are my top five must-do tours to really ramp up your next Jamaican escape, things you probably should be thinking about.

1. Dunn’s River Falls: The Classic Climb

Dunn's River Falls

Arguably the first thing a person thinks of when they think of Ocho Rios is, as a matter of fact, Dunn’s River Falls. Very likely, you’ve already seen a picture, but the photo doesn’t prepare you for experiencing it. Basically, imagine climbing a 600-foot waterfall! Seems kinda tricky, right? Actually, tour guides take you up step-by-step, through the cascading water. Seemingly, you’re part of this human chain, all making their way up, with the cool water rushing all around you. Arguably, it feels a bit like nature’s own theme-park ride, which might sound a little off the wall. This trip is definitely suitable for families; you see, it also works for friends, or a solo mission, and everyone cheers when they reach the top, is that not lovely? When you’re planning, you might keep in mind that you probably will want water shoes or sandals with good grip, so that you’re comfortable walking on slippery rocks.

If you ask anyone who’s done it, they would tell you, “Oh it’s amazing!” As I was saying, getting photos is something you absolutely must do. So maybe consider a waterproof case for your phone. It’s just that there’s nothing else like it and it will bring you big smiles.

2. Mystic Mountain: Adventure in the Rainforest

Mystic Mountain Ocho Rios

Seemingly perched above Ocho Rios, basically Mystic Mountain, in some respects, is where you see just how playful Jamaica can be, something to always try to keep in your peripheral vision. Seriously, this place has something for everyone, should that appeal. What you might first be taken by is riding the SkyExplorer chairlift right up through the thick rainforest, but only really to see what comes next. Looking over the top of the trees for these spectacular coastal views just never seems to grow tiresome. Once you arrive at the top, anyway, you can take a bobsled ride winding down the mountain. Kinda reminds you of the movie ‘Cool Runnings’, does it not? And yes, it can also make you scream quite loud as you dash around every turn, naturally.

Then, there is the zip-lining, something I myself really enjoy! As a matter of fact, imagine zooming from one platform to another. I tell you it is absolutely awesome! Especially when it’s like your flying through that rainforest. So you should also consider checking out the climbing wall, or the rainforest garden. There’s lots for those who really like just seeing cool plants, seemingly, as well as learning something. Really, if you and your family seek thrills and exploration. I think you probably will like spending the day up here. Be aware, the earlier you arrive there, generally, the fewer people there might be.

3. Dolphin Cove: Swim with Marine Life

Dolphin Cove Ocho Rios

For those people who enjoy animal experiences, you could say that Dolphin Cove is, arguably, really cool, seemingly offering several ways to interact with dolphins and other marine animals. Okay, so you get to swim with dolphins in that natural lagoon. I’ll bet you’re not going to say no to something like that, right? Also, these experiences range from wading in shallow water, too it’s almost swimming alongside these super gentle creatures. You will hug, kiss, and maybe even dance with them if you want to do all that. You also might want to try interacting with stingrays (yes, really!). I bet you didn’t see that one coming, eh? Should you be inclined, you can check out the pirate-themed shows and the shark shows.

Really, many visitors say it is incredibly rewarding to be able to connect with these animals, right up close and personal like that. As I was saying, these programs typically have great trainers that you learn so much from. By the way, they explain all about the animal’s lifestyles and they help to share very important conservation messages too, you know. The place photographs so beautifully, very many tell me. Try it out, it’s really the most magical spot. It’s almost guaranteed to be memorable!

4. River Tubing on the White River

River Tubing White River Ocho Rios

Basically, consider what a river-tubing adventure could be. So it can be a great way to see some countryside while chilling out and doing nothing too strenuous. The White River delivers just that. So what you do is grab an inflatable tube. As a matter of fact, settle into its cool, clear waters and float all the way down the river. A few of the tours have guides who give you tips on navigating certain small rapids. But basically, mostly what you’re doing is taking the surrounding scenery in, as I was saying. Now, sometimes along your journey, you can just take time for short swimming breaks too. It is honestly wonderful to be in that jungle. Keep your eye out for lots of really cool birds too.

For families, or small groups of people who’d just like to chill and enjoy themselves, then in that case this trip is great. Do remember that, in all instances, sunscreen and insect repellent are, clearly, something you’ll be glad you packed. Oh yes and don’t forget your camera for those perfect pics too. Just remember you could get wet!

5. Island Routes Reggae Catamaran Cruise

Island Routes Reggae Catamaran Cruise Ocho Rios

To see just how awesome Ocho Rios is by sea, or as many call it ‘from another angle,’ I might propose a Reggae Catamaran Cruise, which does sound nice, actually. Here’s where it’s just perfect to sit back, have a sip of something, and groove to some music, and just soak in all of the amazing coastal spots you’re bound to see. In any event, these cruises stop at a cool spot for snorkeling too. You might get to be very impressed by how clear the waters are. A stop-off at Dunn’s River Falls (yup that’s it!) from the ocean could be what you needed to really seal the day off for you. I suppose some people would do both the waterfall and the cruise together.

Cruises like these come with a nice lunch. By the way, an open bar as well, for just adding to all of the good times. You also should check for sunset cruises to capture those really dramatic colors bouncing off the ocean waters. I mean how cool is that? If that appeals to you, I’d go check that out as it may be one for you.
